Uniquely-formed ancient basalt volcanic formations which is one of favorite place of the landscape photographer on Iceland. The hill of Svalthufa – were this photo has been taken – is a high cliff, the remains of crater which has been eroded by the sea. There are two higher pillar on the faraway, the higher one is 75m, the smaller one 61m. There is great birdlife around the cliffs , puffin and fulmars has their nests on these cliffs. The farmers – unlike nature photographer – avoid this area because it is said to belong to the elves (… elves don’t really like humans). From the parking place you can go up with a short trip to the viewpoint of Svalthufa, after you have admired the spectacular panorama you can go down to see the two pillars.

Ősi vulkanikus bazalt formáció a tengerparton, amely a fotósok egyik kedvenc helye Izlandon. Svalthufa hegy – ahol ez a fotó készült – egy magas szikla, egy kráter maradványa amelyet a tenger lepusztított. Két oszlop látható a távolban a magasabb 75m az alacsonyabb 61m magas. Nyüzsgő madárvilág van a sziklák körül, puffinok és sirály hojszák fészkelnek a sziklákon. A helyiek -ellentétben a fotósokkal -kerülik ezt a helyet, mert azt tartják, hogy az elfek lakhelye (az elfek pedig nem igazán szeretik az embereket). A parkolóból egy rövid sétával jutsz fel a Svalthufa kilátópontjára, miután megcsodáltad a varázslatos panorámát egy rövid sétával le tudsz menni megcsodálni a két “oszlopot”.
