Long exposure with filters – step by step (cheat sheet)
– Set the camera to A(aperture) mode, and set the desired aperture
– Create the composition (Golden ratio, rule of third, etc.)
– Focus setting with the auto focus (AF)
– Then switch to manual focus (MF) – (the subject has to be still sharp)
– Set the exposition, read the exposition values
– Use the exposure chart to calculate to define which ND require for the desired results
– Attach the ND filters (such as Formatt Hitech , Lee, HiTech, Nisi or Cokin
– Switch to manual or bulb or Time modes (at D850)
– Close your viewfinder or cover that
– Click/shoot
– Check the histogram
– Click/shoot again if necessary
